They wanted a statement piece that would be functional AND beautiful as it’s one of the first things you see when you walk in! This table was really exciting to make for many reasons. This table’s beautiful Ash wood cookie top is 24″ in diameter and stands 30″ tall on a custom-made matte-black painted steel base.
The void on this Ash wood cookie table is filled with custom-made green epoxy made to compliment the client’s home decor. It has a slight iridescence that pops when the light catches it.
The Wenge bowties, made beautifully for function, are a perfect contrast to the light natural color of the Ash wood color.
The base to this table is a work of art itself. Made by a local professional metal worker, the angles and joints of the base are seamless, giving it the perfect contrast to the circular top.
Just like every piece we make, we enjoy celebrating all the little details, stark and subtle. The curl, contrast, and crack (we call it a void), all offered creative opportunities. Curl, like in the image on the right, almost shimmers when the light hits it.
The rings on this cookie indicate this Ash tree was around 50 years old when it was harvested. Age like that indisputably brings beautiful character and story to any piece.
